You have chosen a product from the artisanal brewery - 'Le Brewery' and we thank you. The brewery started production in Spring 2001. It is situated 5km from La Ferté Macé in the direction of Carrouges in the commune of Joué du Bois. You may visit us on our preferred opening days of Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Steve Skews, the founder and Master Brewer, initially produced two beers. A blonde beer known as Norman Gold with a strength of 4.9% abv using 4 different malts and 2 varieties of hops and a brown beer known as Conquérant with a strength of 5.5% abv using 5 malts and 2 varieties of hops. Two additional beers have since been added. Odo, a rich English milk stout (6.6% abv), and an Amber beer (5.1% abv) produced in the Autumn brewed using freshly picked hops grown at the brewery.
The beers are characteristic of the English style top fermented 'ales'. The condition of the beer is a result of gas from the fermentation process. No gas is added to preserve the beer. The beer is not pasteurised, not filtered and there are no added chemicals to affect the flavour or characteristics of the beer.
Advice.
Storage:
Generally, the beers are not intended to be stored. Nevertheless in the bottle, the beer can be stored for three months without problems. A cool cellar is ideal, with the bottles upright and shaded from bright light and without vibration. The yeast remains in suspension and it is not surprising to find a deposit in the bottom of the bottle. Ideally, if you wish to cool the beer, you should stand the bottles upright in the bottom of a refrigerator for less than 12 hours before drinking. If the beer is too cool a temporary haze can develop that disappears when the beer warms again.
Serving.
The ideal temperature for serving Norman Gold is 8°C and for the Conquérant it is 10 to 15°C - the temperature of a cool cellar. If despite this you choose to cool the beers for longer, you will lose some of the aromas and taste.
Good drinking! Cheers or A votre santé!
